AUBURN — Fay T. Day, 77, formerly of 200 Stetson Road, Schooner Estates, died Friday, July 8, at Clover Manor.

She was born in Lewiston on May 4, 1934, the daughter of the late Wendell H. and Blanche A. Hines Tripp. She was educated in Norway schools, graduating from Norway High School in 1952.

In 1981, she began work as a CNA at Ledgeview Nursing Home in West Paris and was chosen by her peers in 1991 as Nurse’s Aid of the Year. She went back to school in June 1992 to be certified as a medical assistant. She was also one of the original 13 people who joined together to form the drug awareness team of Oxford Hills and started the first Project Graduation in this country.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society at the Auburn Town House on Lake Auburn Avenue where she formerly resided. Fay enjoyed sewing, knitting and cooking.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Paul and husband, Rick, of Auburn; a son, David Day and his partner, Kathie Lawrence, of Norway; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Danielle Paul; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Cathy; and a sister, Alfreda Cook.
