YORK, Maine (AP) — A Maine fish market will remain closed this week after a car crashed through a wall and crushed a chair and table that had been vacated by a woman just seconds before.
The owner of York Lobster & Seafood in York, Tom Robinson, says the market had closed but about 75 customers were eating in the outdoor pavilion when the car went through the wall Saturday evening.
The 4,400-pound car traveled 46-feet into the market before stopping in the bathroom.
Police say the driver was not impaired. Investigators are looking at mechanical issues. No charges have been filed.
Robinson tells the Portland Press Herald that even though he has to close for a time during the height of the season he’s thrilled because of what could have happened.
