LEWISTON — The Northstar Session, a rootsy folk-rock band from Los Angeles, heard on radio stations around the country — and founded by a 2002 Bates College graduate — will play at the Irish Twins Pub on Thursday, July 21.

Songwriter and guitarist Matt Szlachetka of Longmeadow, Mass, who played in Lewiston back in 2005, moved to Los Angeles two years later. There, he met up with drummer-songwriter Kane McGee of Los Angeles and keyboardist-songwriter Dave Basaraba of Portland, Ore.

Since then, the prolific song-writing team has written and recorded one EP and three full-length records, the latest of which, “Late Bloomer,” was released on April 2.

The Northstar Session regularly performs at Los Angeles venues like the Hotel Cafe and The Mint, and it appeared on the NBC show “Parenthood” on Sept. 21.

The band has built a strong following on the West Coast, touring behind its “New Prehistoric Times” and “Winter Collection” CDs, and will do an acoustic trio Northeast tour on July 14-25.

The show at the Irish Twins Pub, 743 Main St., will begin at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
