JAY — Marguerite A. “Peggy” (Tibbetts) McDonald, 77, a resident of Crash Road, Jay, died peacefully Sunday, July 10, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy was born July 28, 1933, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Alfred Legere Sr. and Anita R. (Richards) Legere. She grew up in Livermore Falls and Riley. Peggy attended school in Jay, later returning to school and graduated in 1976 from Livermore Falls High School.

On June 10, 1951, in Turner, she married her husband of 59 years, Earl W. McDonald. He passed away April 9. She and Earl lived and raised their family in Riley and later on the Crash Road in Jay. Peggy worked in the clerical field for Sampson’s Supermarket, Mario’s and retired from Lucarelli’s Deli.

She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, a former member of the Rosary Solidarity of Riley/Wilton; Daughters of Isabella and several bowling leagues.

Peggy enjoyed, motorcycling, snowmobiling, ceramics, knitting, shopping and eating out. She also loved to travel, she visited the Holy Land, went to Las Vegas, Florida, and St. Martins University and Abbey in Lacey, Washington. Above all else, Peggy loved the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by children, Greg McDonald and Brenda Allen of Fayette, Kathy Buckingham of Jay, Cindy Marston and her husband, Albert, of North Jay, Pamela Brown of Jay, Chris McDonald of Jay, Melanie Nichol and her husband, Robbin of Jay, Tina Rioux and her husband, Norm, of Livermore and Monica Woodcock and her husband, Kenny, of Livermore Falls; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rose Marie Labbe of South Portland; her brother, Fred Legere Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Statesville, N.C.; her daughter-in-law, Wanda McDonald of Jay; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Randy E. McDonald in 1984; parents, Fred Legere in 2010, Anita Legere in 2001; father, Melvin Tibbetts; her sister, Helen McDonald; and her son-in-law, Dale Buckingham in 2010.
