RUMFORD — Florence M. “Flolly” Barrett, 99, died Tuesday, July 12, at the Rumford Community Home. She was a lifelong resident of the area.

Born in Mexico on Feb. 27, 1912, she was a daughter of Michael and Florence (Kierstead) Olsen. She attended Mexico schools. She worked as a chamber maid at the Madison Motel and the Hotel Rumford in Rumford for many years, until her retirement.

She was a member of the Mexico Congregational Church and the Greater Rumford Senior Citizen’s Club. She was married to Harold Skillin, who died in February 1943, and was later married in Mexico on Aug. 9, 1947 to James Barrett, who died in Mexico on Aug. 5, 1967.

Survivors include three sons, James Barrett and his wife, Karen, of Mexico, Edward Skillin and his wife, Caroline, of Deerfield, N.H., and Lawrence Skillin of Massachusetts; a sister, Elizabeth Glenfield of Hampton, N.H.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Richard Skillin; a grandson, James “Jimbo” Barrett II; three brothers, James D., Warren V. and Michael Olsen; and a sister, Leonora Breau.
