DIXFIELD — Don’t despair, Bullrock fans. Efforts are under way to bring the moose back.
The loss of Bullrock, the beloved full-sized carved wooden moose statue that stood proudly in Dixfield’s town common for the past 10-plus years, hit many people in the River Valley hard.
Bullrock was felled by high winds spawned by the fierce thunderstorm that caused so much havoc on Wednesday, July 6.
On Friday morning, members of the Dixfield Economic Opportunity Committee decided that Bullrock’s importance to the town, its residents, community identity and for the many visitors who travel by and stop for photo-ops with the Bullrock was too vital to let the moose go gently into the night.
The committee has established a funding drive to finance Bullrock II. Donations to the “Return of Bullrock Fund” may be made at the Dixfield Town Office or sent by mail to Return of Bullrock Fund, P.O. Box 808, Dixfield, ME 04224.
