Defending state champion Apple Vallet advanced to the 15U Babe Ruth baseball state tournament by breezing to the District 5 title.

Apple Valley won all thgree of its games in the double-elimination tournament. The Monmouth/Winthrop/Readfield area team opened with a 26-4 rout of Augusta. AVBR beat Central Maine, 6-2 and 9-0 to polish off the title.

In other games, Central Maine slipped past Somerset, 3-2; Somerset trounced Augusta, 10-1; and Central Maine again edged Somerset, 7-6.
