FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Children’s Task Force, 113 Church St., has announced the following classes. For more information or to register, call 778-6960.
1, 2, 3 Magic will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23. Cost, $10. This program encourages positive behavior, independence and self-esteem while giving parents the tools to manage difficult behaviors in children.
This program is recommended for children ages 2-12 and also provides a guide for teachers if parents and a child’s educator would like to work together on modifying a behavior.
An eight-week Incredible Years course will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 24 and 31, Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28, and Oct. 5 and 12.The program focuses on strengthening parenting skills and consists of components which build upon one another. The series includes: Strengthening children’s social skills, emotional regulation and school readiness skills; using praise and incentives to encourage cooperative behavior; positive discipline – rules, routines and effective limit setting; positive discipline and handling misbehavior.
