I am a senior citizen and I receive a very small Social Security check. It barely covers my Medicare and medical insurance supplement. My Social Security check is automatically deposited to my checking account. My Medicare and medical insurance supplement costs are automatically withdrawn from my checking account.
If Congress can’t do something about raising the debt limit, or something else so that senior citizens will continue to receive Social Security checks, a lot of senior citizens’ bank accounts are going to be overdrawn when those and other automatic withdrawals are made that are reliant on the Social Security checks being deposited. There would also be bank charges because of the accounts being overdrawn.
My suggestion to help balance the budget is for the president and Congress to take serious pay cuts instead of penalizing senior citizens, who paid into Social Security and rely on those checks to survive.
Also, federal elected officials must be made aware of the possibility of bank accounts being overdrawn. It would not be the fault of those receiving Social Security.
We need to pray that possible disaster won’t happen.
