NEW YORK CITY — Jacob G. Botma of 31 Tieman Place, New York, N.Y., died peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, with family by his side.

Jacob was born Feb. 24, 1957 to Mr. Anne Botma and Colette Botma in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and was raised in Lisbon Falls. He was educated in Lisbon schools, attended Graham Junior College in Boston and studied real estate at New York University. He became an American citizen when he was l8.

At 19, Jacob left the family dairy farm and lived in New York City for the rest of his life. He enjoyed giving tours of the city to his guests from out of town and also brought friends back to Maine to introduce them to farm life.

He worked for many years as a manager at Hamilton Copy Center and later as a bicycle messenger, until he was severely injured 11 years ago, after being hit by a tour bus.

Jacob loved jazz music, dance, theater and was a member of the Screen Actors’ Guild and Equity.

He is survived by his mother, Colette Botma of Lisbon Falls; his daughter, Emily Botma of Grayslake, Ill., and her mother, Janet Horn of Evanston, Ill.; sisters, Janke Botma of Lebanon, N.H., and Katherine Botma of Powell, Tenn.; brothers, Glen Botma and Dirk Botma of Lisbon Falls; his aunt, Yvonne Wellman of Lisbon; and nephews, Brendan Whittaker of Lebanon, N.H., Zakary Davis of Ft. Stewart, Ga., and Tyler Davis of Ft. Hood, Texas.

He was predeceased by his father, Anne Botma.
