RANGELEY — On July 11, the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust kicked off its 2011 edition of the popular Outdoor Adventure Series with a GPS workshop conducted by Patty Cormier of the Maine Department of Conservation. This is the fourth year of these educational and fun-filled events.

The Outdoor Adventure Series has provided a great opportunity for Trust members to enjoy the region’s lands and waters while forging friendships with fellow members. Fees for the events range between $10 and $40 per person. For paddling events, a limited number of canoes and kayaks are provided on a first come first served basis or participants are welcome to bring their own.

Slots are still available for the following events:

A nature tour at Cascade Stream Gorge with Inland Fisheries and Wildlife biologist Chuck Hulsey on Tuesday, July 26. Explore forest ecology and wildlife habitats along the scenic trail system.

Kayak/canoe Kennebago River and Lake with lunch at Grant’s Camps on Monday, Aug. 1. This paddle will begin on Upper Kennebago River, cross Little Kennebago and circle back to the meandering river through the causeway at Big Kennebago Lake.

Mooselookmeguntic Lake boat tour and picnic aboard comfortable and spacious party boats Monday, Aug. 8. A picnic lunch will be provided at a scenic shorefront site.

A flat-water paddle of Hunter Cove conservation lands on Rangeley Lake will take place Monday, Aug. 15. The group will stop for dessert and a beverage at the landing site at Hunter Cove Sanctuary and then make a short loop into Rangeley Lake.
