NORWAY — Members of the Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation met on May 18 in the Harper Conference Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital for the annual meeting.
Gene Benner, chairman of the Western Maine Health board, welcomed attendees. Six new foundation members, Patrick and Tracy Hartnett, Jon and Barbara Deschenes, Dr. Myung and Jacki Kim, were announced.
Timothy Churchill, CEO and president of WMH, shared highlights of 2010, as well as key points regarding the hospital’s transition to a Critical Access Hospital.
Gregory Hardy, M.D., Western Maine OB/GYN and SMH site coordinator for the Maine Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine, described the continued growth of the program. Hardy introduced the four medical students in the program who recently moved to the community for the next nine months of their clerkship.
William L. Caron, Jr., CEO of MaineHealth, was the featured speaker who discussed the health status of Oxford County and initiatives that the Western Maine Health and MaineHealth system might consider to improve the health of the community.
