GLENBURN — The South Lewiston Girls 9-10 Fastpitch Softball All-Stars have  swept away all the competition, going 5-0 in the state tournament heading into the state finals being played Friday and Saturday.

In the first game, Lewiston faced defending state champions and perennial powerhouse Scarborough, winning 8-2 behind the strong pitching performance of Jordan Mynahan.

Leading the way offensively was Emily Mousseau with three hits and three RBIs. Also having a big day at the plate were Mynahan and Megan Morris with two hits apiece.

Mousseau tossed a two-hit, 11 strikeout performance against Ellsworth in a 14-2 romp.

The game was basically over in the second inning when Mousseau crushed a fastball for a grand slam. Mousseau had a 4-for-4 day at the plate with 7 RBIs. Also joining in on the hit parade was Danielle Cyr with a triple and a single.

Game 3 was much the same, as Lewiston rolled to a 14-0 win over Sanford behind a no-hit, 8 strikeout pitching performance by Mynahan.

Mynahan and Mousseau had three hits apiece, with Mousseau driving in three runs. Megan Theriault also connected for three hits, and Morris chipped in with three hits and four RBIs.

Lewiston faced powerhouse Hermon with the same results in a 14-3 win. Mousseau tossed a two-hit, nine-strikeout gem and again had three hits and three RBIs. Cyr had a big day at the plate with three singles and an RBI.

The final game matched Lewiston against Waldoboro, with Waldoboro needing a victory to have any chance to continue in the tournament.

It wasn’t to be, as Lewiston stormed away with a 20-2 win.

Cyr nothced her first win on the mound, allowing three hits and striking out five. Eliza Beaudoin got things started with a tape measure shot for a home run, putting Lewiston up 2-0.

Mousseau had three hits and three RBIs once again. Theriault had three big hits, while Mynahan chipped in two hits and drove in three runs.

After five games, Lewiston has outscored its opponents 75-9. Mousseau has gone an amazing 16-for-17 with 20 RBIs while notching two victories on the mound. Mynahan once again has shown why she is one of the most feared and dominant pitchers in the state with two overpowering performances on the mound while batting .500 at the plate.

Theriault, Morris and Cyr have also been forces at the plate while Beaudoin and Lexi Poulin have been stellar defensively.
