I am one of the unfortunate landowners who has to deal with the road-widening on Route 9 in Sabattus. However, I must say that this project has surpassed my expectations.

I was whole-heartedly expecting it to be a disaster — dealing with the multiple dump trucks, blasting, flaggers and, God forbid, the dust.

I have been waiting for this project to happen since I moved in 11 years ago. My side of the project started soon after the snow left this year.

The workers start early and work diligently all day and sometimes late into the evening. There have been a few times when I have come home from work to no driveway, or a huge hole in front of my driveway preventing me from entering. The workers knew I lived there and would quickly fill in and flatten the driveway so I could drive over it.

They have been so accommodating to me.

Many days the dust is a factor, and just when I think it’s going to turn into a dust bowl, the water truck goes by. They are right on it and I am very impressed.

Everyone is so friendly with all their waves as I go to and come home from work.

This project may be a hindrance to many, but I offer my thanks for all that the crew has done.

I know this project is far from over, but I do look forward to the end result.
