MEXICO — The Mexico Public Library will host an American Girl Tea Party for girls ages 6-11 at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the Calvin Lyons Hall, next door to the library. Those attending will meet American Girl Kaya and travel back in time to the 1760s. Kaya was a Native American girl who lived during that period in history.
Girls who attend will work on a craft and participate in activities from that era. A tea party, with real china cups, and light refreshments will be enjoyed by the girls.
Every girl who attends may enter a drawing for a miniature collectible Kaya doll and introductory book, “Meet Kaya.”
American Girl dolls are invited to attend with their owners. Although not necessary, girls are invited to dress in the style of clothing that was popular for Native American girls in that era, the 1760s, or to just dress up in the clothing style of 2011. RSVPs are encouraged and appreciated by Tuesday, Aug. 2. For more info, call the library at 364-3281 or inquire at the circulation desk.
