FARMINGTON — Franklin Memorial Hospital President Rebecca Ryder announces that Abhishekh Govind, MD, has joined the medical staff at Franklin Memorial Hospital as a hospitalist.

Dr. Govind assumed his new position on July 18, joining Dr. David Hyde, Dr. Larry Labul, Dr. Brian Clements, Dr. Thomas Ryan, and physician assistant Tim Davis, in staffing the Franklin Memorial Hospital hospitalist service. Hospitalists are based full-time within the hospital to provide care for seriously ill patients who do not have a physician or whose physician does not provide hospital care.

Dr. Govind most recently was resident physician at Underwood Memorial Hospital Family Medicine in Woodbury, N.J. Prior to that, he was a surgical resident at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. He received his medical degree from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten, Netherland Antilles.

Dr. Govind has a professional interest in inpatient intensive care. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Sports Medicine.

He lives in Farmington with his wife and their two daughters. He is an outdoor recreational enthusiast who also enjoys world traveling, reading, cooking, photography, art and music.
