RUMFORD — Mary Ellen Waleik, 92, of Rumford, died Sunday, July 24, at the Rumford Community Home.

She was born in Dixfield, March 25, 1919, the daughter of Oscar and Lucy (Libby) Holman, graduated from Mexico High School, Class of 1936, and then from beauticians school in Portland.

Mary worked for many years as a beautician and helped run Waleik’s Market in Mexico with her husband for many years.

She was married in Mexico, Dec. 25, 1939, to Anthony C. “Tony” Waleik, who died in Rumford on Aug. 18, 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jean Jodrey of Rumford; sons, John Waleik and wife, Diana, of Mexico, Charles Waleik and wife, Jo-Anne, of Wakefield, N.H., and Dan Waleik and wife, Betsy, of Peru; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband; daughter, Lu Ann; and sister, Blanche Parker.
