TURNER — The July meeting of the Turner Natural History Club will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at the museum in Turner Center. Following a short business meeting, the speaker for July will be Dan Marquis, a professional wildlife photographer from Lewiston. He will present a talk called “Birding in Florida” which he also recently presented at the Stanton Bird Club meeting.

Marquis’ photos have been published in several wildlife and photography magazines and his work has been shown at many photography shows and galleries. The public is invited to attend and the museum will be open at 6:30 for viewing the thousands of specimens of the natural world. Parents are encouraged to bring children to see the museum.

The museum is open from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for viewing the exhibits.

Coming up in August is the annual Flower Show, a club tradition since 1935. Rules and categories may be found at turnernaturalhistoryclub.org or by calling Bill Whitman at 225-3915. This is a low-key event; participants don’t have to be a professional gardener to enter. Unusual plant materials and containers are encouraged. Children are encouraged to enter. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded. Refreshments will be served. Entries will be accepted from 9 to 11 a.m. with judging at 11. The public is invited to be present from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
