FARMINGTON — A workshop, “Preserving the Harvest,” is being offered twice this week by Donna Bucher of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.

The first workshop takes place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, and another will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at the Franklin County Cooperative Extension Office, 138 Pleasant Street, Suite 1, in Farmington.

Participants in the three-hour workshop will learn recommended methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes, equipment to insure safety and how to check for properly sealed jars. They will also receive a “Preserving the Harvest” food preservation packet.

There is a materials fee of $10 per person, and participants are asked to bring a potholder with them to the workshop.

Please call 778-4650 or 1-800-287-1478 to register for the preserving workshops. The materials fee is payable by check to FCEA. Please put “Preserving the Harvest” and note the day of your session in the memo section.
