Youth football

AUBURN — Auburn Parks and Recreation Department is taking registrations for youth football grades 1-8. The deadline to register is Friday, July 29. The department is also taking registrations for seventh and eighth grade football cheerleading, skills and drills basketball camp for girls in grades three through eight, and Summer Mad Science Camp. Skunk Run

LOCKE MILLS — The ninth annual Skunk Run in memory of Sandon Morgan will be held Saturday, July 30, at the American Legion Hall.

Motorcycle Run registration will take place from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. with departure time at 10 a.m. The guided 136-mile tour will travel through Bethel into New Hampshire and will include a rest stop, gas stops and porta-potties.

A free lunch and water will be provided to run participants.

A pig and turkey roast will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., with salads, watermelon, rolls, Brad’s beans, cold beverages, desserts and more.

All bikes and groups are welcome. there will be long-sleeve and short-sleeve T-shirts and hats available for purchase.

The fee is $10 for each event. Proceeds benefit the Sandon Morgan Scholarship Fund, which is presented exclusively for Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School or Telstar Regional High School students.

The rain date for the run only is July 31. The roast will take place July 30 rain or shine.

Dog obedience

LEWISTON — Great Falls Dog Obedience Club will start another six-week dog obedience class Wednesday, Aug. 3. Dogs and puppies must be at least 3 1/2 months old and vaccinated. Sabattus seniors

SABATTUS — Sabattus Senior Citizens will hold an outing day Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Maxwell Hall. Doors will open at 9 a.m. for coffee, danish and cards or games. Lunch will be served at noon, consisting of Kentucky Fried Chicken, potatoes, gravy, cole slaw and biscuits.

There will be a very short meeting followed by bingo with lots of special prizes. Cost for the day is $12 per person. For more information call Doris at 784-7950.

A 13-day trip to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument will take place Aug. 25 to Sept. 6. The cost of $1189 per person includes transportation, hotels, guided tours through South Dakota and 22 meals, plus more. Parade entries

YARMOUTH — North Yarmouth Events Committee seeks entries for this year’s Fun Day parade at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. The theme this year is “The Great North Yarmouth Air Show.” The committee is seeking fun and creative individual and group entries, floats and walkers. Ribbons will be awarded in several categories.

The parade starts at 9 a.m.; lineup is at 8 and the distance covered will be a half-mile. The end point is North Yarmouth’s Village Green on Route 115, adjacent to Wescustogo Hall.
