Captain Paul Fournier and firefighter Roger Roy share a moment with veteran Joseph Paradis, who donated a flag to the Lewiston Fire Department. The flag was previously flown over the United States Capitol and was presented to Paradis by U.S. Sen. Susan Collins. Paradis’ wish was that the flag be flown over Lewiston’s Central Fire Station on Memorial Day in observance of the holiday and veterans. The department invited Paradis to assist in raising the flag at 7:30 a.m. on May 30. A moment of silence was observed. Paradis is a veteran of the Korean War, former prisoner of war, a Purple Heart recipient and vastly involved in the establishment of LA Veterans Memorial Park.
