The Bethel Historical Society’s newest exhibition is “Glorious Ridges and Princely Peaks: Artistic Visions of the White Mountains,” featuring 28 oil and watercolor paintings at the Mason House. The display of 19th and 20th century paintings of the highlands of northern New Hampshire and western Maine is being presented in conjunction with the society’s exhibition on the White Mountain Club of Portland, which will open at the Robinson House on Aug. 13. Art show hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday through Aug. 31. The painting above is of Peabody River near Pine Mountain (mountains Madison and Adams) in Gorham, N.H.
