WILTON — Sir Isaac of Redgate strolled regally beside his master Tuesday on their near-daily walk along Route 133.
For about a half mile of that walk, the 4-year-old registered English setter clenched an empty beer can he found along the road.
“I pay him a nickel for everyone he finds,” joked his owner, Jeff LeDoux, as they neared his property, Redgate Farm.
Actually, Sir Isaac is learning to fetch. In addition to finding birds, LeDoux wants him to fetch them.
On one hunting trip, Sir Isaac found five birds. Two were shot but the dog didn’t retrieve them.
“He doesn’t like the taste of woodcock but I do,” LeDoux said, explaining that he believes in eating what he hunts.
Sir Isaac of Redgate is registered with the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association.
