LEWISTON — Androscoggin Bank will host its third exhibit, photography by Michael Reidy, lecturer and technical director of Bates College’s theater department, for Art Walk Lewiston Auburn.

Featured in the “Fourteen Encounters: Places of Power and Grace” exhibit will be  a collection of images taken by Reidy with a Holga toy camera.

“While in Japan in June 2007, I visited many wonderful places, but I was particularly moved by the numerous shrines, temples and fortifications I encountered,” Reidy said.

“These buildings and their gardens have endured for hundreds of years and seem to spring organically from the land itself, in defiance of the congested cities that have grown all around them. These photographs, made with a simple plastic toy camera, are a record of those experiences,” he said.

Reidy’s photographs will be displayed in the bank lobby, starting today through Aug. 23. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 29. During the event, Three Point Trio, a three-piece jazz ensemble, will perform in the bank’s park, next to J. Dostie Jewelers.
