RUMFORD — The carnival is back in town.
After seven years, the town has all the familiar fixings of the carnival rides, games, cotton candy and fried dough.
For four days, beginning Thursday afternoon, the Kavanaugh Amusement Carnival will provide rides, fun and games at Marden’s Plaza off Route 2.
“We will provide family fun with eight amusement rides, four for children and four for teens through adult,” said Andrew Kavanaugh, general manager of the 32-year-old Kavanaugh Amusement Co. of Dalhousie, N.B., Canada
The carnival features rides for adults such as the Octopus, Rock-o-Plane, Tempest and Swinger, and for the younger crowd rides such as the Caterpillar, a Carousel, Airplane Ride and Fun House.
“Of course, we’ll have all the tasty carnival foods such as cotton candy, fried dough and candied apples,” Kavanaugh said.
The carnival will be open from 4 to10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 1 p.m. to close on Saturday, and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
There is free admission into the carnival, however rides are $1 each. Friday is Bracelet Day. From 4 to 10 p.m. one can have unlimited rides for $20 and there are coupons available around town that give a $7 discount for a book of tickets, Kavanaugh said.
There is plenty of free parking in the Marden’s Plaza parking lot.
