NEW SHARON — A celebration of life service, honoring the lifetime of Wellington Light Ramsey, “Duke,” of New Sharon, was held Tuesday from the Old South Congregational Church, Farmington, with the Rev. Kim Hoare, interim pastor and the Rev. Dr. Richard L. Waddell Jr. of Farmington, co-officiating. Patricia Hayden was the organist. The prayer of Invocation was recited by his son, W.L. Ramsey Jr.; Cathy Ramsey, daughter-in-law recited the scripture reading and the closing prayer was offered by his son-in-law, Jeff Stitt. Congegational hymns included “Faith of our Fathers” and “The Lord is my Shepherd.” Eulogies were given by his daughters, Pamela Ramsey and Phyllis Stitt; his son, W.L. Ramsey Jr. and his granddaughter, Emily Ramsey wrote and performed on her ukulele the song titled “Grandy’s Song.” The Ramsey family sang “Be Thou My Vision.” Congregational remembrances were lead by the Rev. Dr. Waddell Jr. followed by the musical organ meditation “There is a Balm in Gilead.” The guest book was attended by granddaughters, Janis Stitt and Julia Ramsey; the ushers were grandsons, W.L. Ramsey III and Noah Stitt. The organ postlude was “Hallelujah Chorus.” Following services, all were welcome to attend a family reception in the church vestry hosted by the Hospitality Committee of Old South. Private inurnment in the family cemetery in New Sharon. Arrangements were in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
