RANGELEY — Fun, big, quirky, community-involved and distinctively Rangeley were some of the descriptors spectators gave the 31st Annual Rangeley Lakes Region Logging Museum Festival parade on Saturday morning.
Hundreds of Rangeley Lakes region locals and vacationers lined Rangeley’s sun-drenched, flag-draped Main Street on Saturday morning to watch one of the biggest parades in town history, with more than 100 entrants including 50-plus floats.
The parade’s logging theme was colorfully and plentifully in evidence on Saturday with many logging machines of yesteryear, such as horse/man teams dragging logs, old log skidders, antique logging tools and machines as well as contemporary logging tools of the trade and modern-day trucks.
Included in the hundreds of parade participants were Gov. Paul Le Page, his wife, Ann, and daughter, Lauren. The three walked near the front of the parade the entire mile and a half beside sun-glittered Rangeley Lake.
Other parade dignitaries included Mr. Woodchip and Miss Woodchip, two local youngsters who won the Woodchip Pageant on Friday night. They rode in a flashy blue convertible sports car.
