AUBURN — William A. Bell, 88, of Wilton, died on Saturday, July 30, with his family by his side.
He was born in Westfield, Jan. 13, 1923, the son of Verna McPherson and Clinton Bell. William served in the U.S. Army during World War II, married Nancy L. Hall in 1942. They raised three children together in Dixfield.
William retired from the Boise Paper Co. in Rumford in 1985. After retirement, William was a member of the Country Classic Car Club of Farmington. He enjoyed vintage autos of all types and also restored several antique autos.
William is survived by his two sisters, Eleonor Hammond of Brunswick and Chevaila Kenney of New Mexico; a son, Ronald Bell and his wife, Barbara, of Turner; a daughter, Linda Landis of Wilton; his eight grandchildren, Kimberly Ross of Norway, Michael Bell and his wife, Karen, of Turner, Robert Bell and his wife, Margaux, of Laconia, N.H., Rachel Bannister and her husband, Jim, of Turner, Joni Bell of Auburn, Eric Landis of Denver, Colo., Joey Landis and his wife, Kerri, of McFarland, Wis., and Robert Landis of Tucson, Ariz.; six great-grandchildren, Mike and Sam Ross, Hunter and Parker Bell, Rylee and Mitchell Knox; and many nieces and nephews.
