Apron display
ALBANY — There will be a vintage aprons lunch and presentation on the history of aprons from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m Friday, Aug. 12, at the Albany Town House.
The light lunch will include sandwiches, desserts, fruits and veggies, iced tea and lemonade. Those attending are invited to wear and share an old apron.
Admission will be $5 for adults; children under 12, $2. There will be a vintage-style apron raffle. Call for reservations at 824-2305.
College classes
SOUTH PARIS — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and over at South Paris Career Center, 232 Main St., at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, and Rumford Career Center, 35 Congress St., at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Summer fair
LOVELL — A summer fair, “The Lazy Days of Summer,” will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 :30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Lovell UCC, Route 5, Center Lovell. Gifts, baked goods, produce, flowers, balsam fir pillows, Christmas ornaments, treasures and a raffle will be available.
Program ending
NORWAY — The Summer Reading Program is coming to an end at the Norway Memorial Library. This summer children have traveled around the world, exploring countries and cultures as far away as Tanzania, and as close as Canada. The final program, “Around the World in 80 Days,” will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11.
The program will include face painting, snacks from around the world and a hot air balloon craft led by Pat Perry. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. At 7 p.m. certificates will be given to all children who participated.
Book club meeting
NORWAY — The Continent Book Club will meet for the final time from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9. Author Mary Morton Cowan will discuss her book, “Captain Mac: The Life of Donald Baxter MacMillan, Arctic Explorer.”
Captain Mac is the third children’s book that Cowan has written and her second book based on Donald MacMillan’s arctic adventures.
