HOUSTON, TEX. — Jane Woodhead, competing against the top women javelin throwers in the country, placed fifth in the U. S. Olympic Sports Festival on Sunday evening.
The 1986 Lewiston High School graduate threw a career best of 171 feet, 7 inches to better her previous best by more than three feet. The important thing, according to her coach Reggie Beaulieu, was that Woodhead was finally able to crack the 170-foot barrier.
Beaulieu stated that Woodhead was the youngest competitor to finish that high in the women’s track and field competition.
