Pray for nation
RUMFORD — Rumford Baptist Church will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, for those interested in praying for the nation. Gov. Paul LePage has proclaimed that day to be a Day of Prayer.
It will not be a formal ceremony, but a gathering of like-minded people who wish to pray for the nation. For more information, contact Pastor Dan Pearson at 369-9035.
Vacation school
RUMFORD — Rumford Baptist Church will hold vacation Bible school from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 8 to Aug. 12. The program will be all about “Turnabouts” in conjunction with Child Evangelism Fellowship.
Participants will have Bible stories, songs, crafts, games and verses.

Extension supper
CANTON — There will be a chicken pie supper and ticket auction on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Canton Municipal Building. Proceeds will benefit the Canton Extension Homemakers Scholarship Fund.
Chicken pie, potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, rolls, and assorted desserts will be served. The cost for adults is $7; children, $4.

Texas hold ’em
RUMFORD — There will be a Texas hold ’em tournament on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the American Legion Hall. Registration will be at 9 a.m. and games will start at 10. It is open to the public.
