AUBURN — Francis “Frank” L. “Murph” Murphy, 84, of Turner, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

He was born in Lewiston, Sept. 29, 1926, son the late Cornelius J. and Rossie McAlpine Murphy. He was educated in Auburn and California schools and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, a career that spanned 21 years. In 1949, he met his future wife, Clara G. Silva, in Hawaii, and they were married May 6, 1950.

After his military career, he lived and worked in California for General Telephone for 20 years. He and his wife returned to Maine 13 years ago and enjoyed their retirement years in Turner in the home that he designed.

Frank was a proud member of the American Legion Post 111 in Turner.

He is survived by his wife, Clara of Turner; three sons, Paul K. Murphy and wife, Shery, of Florida, Eric N. Murphy and wife, Roberta, of Nevada, and Curtis W. Murphy and wife, Celise, of Lisbon Falls; two grandchildren, April M. and Andy N. Murphy, both of California; a brother, Richard J. Murphy and wife, Muriel, of Auburn; dear friends of Frank who loved and supported the family were Bert Pelletier and Leslie Salibator of Turner; several nieces and nephews; and his dear friend Gracie, the family dog.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Karen S.L. Murphy on Feb. 21, 1998.
