OXFORD — Selectmen approved semi-final plans for an addition to the Pismo Beach ball field Thursday.

Main-Land Development of Livermore Falls has made plans for a second Little League baseball field behind the existing diamond on Pismo Beach. Plans also include a walking path along Thompson Lake.

An updated plan adds a 15- by 32-foot snack shack that includes two bathrooms and a water fountain. The plan also calls for a leech field for the bathrooms.

Town Manager Michael Chammings said the snack shack and leech field wouldn’t be built at the same time as the new ball field, but said getting it approved by the Department of Environmental Protection at the same time as the rest of the development would give the town five years to build the shack.

Chammings said this summer, the goal is to finish the “meat and potatoes” of the project. That means getting the ball field in place and erecting the lighting poles, even though the lights would probably be installed later.

The town manager said there is water near the site, and the goal is to run town water to the snack shack rather than digging a well.

The layout will now go to the Planning Board for review.
