MEXICO — The Mexico Police Department responded to 55 incidents from July 26 to Aug. 4, which is more than usual for this time of year, Chief James Theriault said.

The department also answered 206 calls during July, which is also significantly higher than the usual 130 to 150 in previous years. More than 20 of those calls were to assist neighboring police departments.

Among the incidents since July 26 were:

Theft

A battery-operated child’s four-wheeler was reported stolen at 1:15 p.m. Aug. 2 from the front porch of a Main Street home. The vehicle is valued at $100. Police have two suspects.

Arrest

Troy Lake, 41, of Carlton Avenue, on a charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, at 10:39 a.m. July 27 at Carlton Avenue.

Theriault said the Police Department received an anonymous call from a male victim who said someone was swinging a motorcycle chain with an attached sprocket at the rear of the apartment complex. The caller also said Lake threatened to “bash his head in.”

Lake was released from the Mexico Police Department on an unspecified amount of bail. He was also instructed to have no contact with the victim. Lake is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on Sept. 6.
