JAY — Two men from Swanville face theft charges after police said they stole chain saws and tools from a foreclosed home on Belanger Road.

Detective Richard Caton IV arrested Andrew Dusoe, 25, and Brett Armstrong, 25, on Thursday on one count each of felony theft by unauthorized taking and transfer, Caton said Friday.

Caton and officers Russell Adams and Nicholas Gulliver stopped a vehicle the men were in that was leaving a foreclosed home, Caton said.

The investigation stemmed from a previous theft on a foreclosed home, he said.

Dusoe was also charged with felony theft by unauthorized taking and transfer for a similar theft reported in April, he said.

“Jay police are keeping a close watch on vacant properties due to the increase in crimes of this nature,” Caton said.

Armstrong and Dusoe each posted $250 cash bail Thursday to be released from the Franklin County Jail in Farmington.

The two are scheduled to appear Nov. 18 in Franklin County Superior Court.
