The report about Summer Street Extension (July 29) gave voice to the few who use it. But the bigger issue with Summer Street is farther East where Mount Auburn Avenue merges with it at the Whiting farms.

At least 90 percent of all traffic is going to or coming from Mount Auburn Avenue there, yet it must yield to outer Summer Street traffic. Going east isn’t too bad; but going west, drivers must turn their heads 150 degrees and look uphill for clearance.

Doesn’t it make sense to have Summer Street traffic yield and give traffic along Mount Auburn Avenue the right of way? Just change the signs.

Final point. It’s been evident for some time that Summer Street Extension is slated for closure. I feel the political game now is to get fingers pointing in so many directions that nobody can figure out who’s to blame for discontinuing it.
