American Night
LEWISTON — The Jesus Party Pentecostal Kid’s Church will hold a candlelight service and moment of silence to honor the 30 American servicemen killed in Afghanistan and their families at home. The Proud To Be An American Night will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at the ministry.
Ministry director Rev. Douglas Taylor will pass out plastic military action figures to remind the children to pray for the troops. Sonia Taylor will sing “God Bless The USA,” and the ministry’s patriotic mentor, Jerry Der Boghosian will recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

Evening of songs
AUBURN — The Turner Street Community Center (Advent Christian Church), 38 Turner St., and the Auburn Nazarene Church, 18 Summer St., will join for an evening of special songs, fellowship and refreshments from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at the community center. All are welcome. Doors will be open at 5:30.
Church program
NEW GLOUCESTER — The New Gloucester Bible Church is offering an elective program from the Faith Bible Institute that will focus on “Creation vs. Evolution.”
The program is open to all who are interested. Enrollment deadline is Sunday6, Aug. 14. The class, which will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, is one hour and will run for 12 weeks.

AUBURN — Turner Street Community Church Vacation Bible School will be held at 263 Turner St. from 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Saturday, Aug. 15 to 20, for children age 4 to12.
