EAST WILTON — Iona Pease Yeaton, 88, of East Wilton, passed away at home on Sunday, Aug. 7.

She was the youngest of five children born to Guy W. and Florence (Haley) Pease on Aug. 16, 1922.

On May 6, 1939, she married Howard Lewis Yeaton Sr. He passed away May 11, 2007; they had been married 68 years.

Iona worked for 15 years at Forster Manufacturing Co. in East Wilton. She was a member of the Forster Bowling Team and also belonged to the East Wilton Christmas Club.

She also enjoyed knitting, cross stitch, word puzzles and reading. After her husband Howard retired, they enjoyed taking trips to California, Florida, Tennessee, and Alaska. Iona enjoyed her entire family and was most proud that all 15 grandchildren graduated from Mt. Blue High School. She has a lot of memorabilia clipped from the local newspapers about all whom she loves.

She is survived by a son, Howard Lewis “Lou” Yeaton Jr. and Roberta, of East Wilton; daughter, Anne Y. Beisaw of Strong; 15 grandchildren, Rhonda deWildte of Wilton, David Beisaw and Kelly of Wilton, Dennis Beisaw and Deirdre of Jay, Jeffrey Beisaw and Cindy of Wilton, Kevin Beisaw of Jay, Robert Beisaw and Mandy of Farmington, Alan Beisaw and Andrea of East Wilton, Mary Anne Havtan and Yaron of Kefar Saba, Israel, Catherine Iona Stahura and Douglas of Aiken, S.C., Michele Catinella and Frank, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Steven Yeaton of Portsmouth, N.H., Deborah Knapp and Randy of Auburn, Elizabeth Evans and John of New Sharon, Tracey Murray of Wilton and Jody Harmon and Brian of Farmington; sister, Zelva Trembley of Oceansides, Calif.; brother-in-law, Lawrence Yeaton and wife, Gaynelle, of Farmington; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Yeaton of Weld and Naples, Fla.; 12 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Howard Sr.; son, David Norman Yeaton; sisters, Hazel Curtis and Lois Pease; brother, Elmer Pease; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
