AUBURN — Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre will hold auditions for the first production of its 72nd season, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,” later this month.
Try-outs for actors, singers and dancers will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, and 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at Great Falls Arts Center, 30 Academy St.
“Cinderella” will be presented in collaboration with the Edward Little High School drama club.
Director Mitchell Clyde Thomas said children ages six and up will be asked to sing and dance between 5 and 7 p.m. on Aug. 21. Adults and high-school students will try out for roles on Aug. 17 and starting at 7 p.m. on Aug. 21.
“We are looking to have a large singing-dancing ensemble of villagers, merchants, maidens and palace guests, along with 15 leading and supporting characters,” said Thomas, who has directed and performed in many productions at CLT over the past 27 years.
“We’d prefer hearing songs from ‘Cinderella,’ but any appropriate show tunes for those doing singing auditions will be fine,” he said.
Paul G. Caron is the music director; Eileen Messina is choreographer.
“Cinderella,” based on the 1997 teleplay, will open its seven performances at the Lewiston Middle School auditorium on Nov. 4.
