CANTON — James R. Stoklas, 68, of Rumford, passed away peacefully on Aug. 9, at the Victorian Villa.
He was born in Rumford, Oct. 3, 1943, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth (MacDonald) Stoklas. Jim attended St. Athanasius School and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1964.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed for many years with the Oxford Paper Co.
Jim was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a life member of the American Legion.
He was a beloved father, son, brother and uncle.
Jim enjoyed fishing, ATV riding, watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, and spending time at various local social clubs with family and friends.
Surviving are his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Stoklas of Mexico; his only child, a daughter, Shannon L. Grich and companion, Andrew Halkett, of Dedham, Mass.; a sister, Maryann Stoklas of Bath; two brothers, Thomas Stoklas of Brunswick and Paul Stoklas of Portland; a niece, Lauri Gowell of Bath; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Stoklas.
He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
