ORONO — Karli Soracco, 17, of Turner, won the junior title and finished fourth overall at the WMSGA amateur state championship at Penobscot Valley Country Club.

Soracco shot rounds of 71, 78 and 84 for a three-day total of 233 on the par-73 track.

Emily Bouchard, 21, won the title in her first attempt, shooting a 7-under 66 ion the opening round and finishing with 78 and 80 for 224.

Pennie Cummings of Leeds tied for second with Ann Probert of Waterville at 232. Cummings shot the low round of 75 on the final day.

Other locals in the top 10 were Kristin Kannegieser of Minot, fifth at 238; Leslie Guenther of Norway, sixth at 241; and Prudence Hornberger out of Turner Highlands, 10th at 253.
