LISBON — The 2011 recipients of the Rochel “Russ” Livernois Memorial Scholarship have been named. Livernois was treasurer/manager of Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union from the founding in 1959 through 1985. All recipients will receive $1000 towards their second semester.

Michael Degou is a graduate of Lisbon High School. He will attend the University of Maine at Orono and will be majoring in mechanical engineering. Degou was the captain of the varsity soccer and basketball teams during his senior year. He also served as president of Students Against Destructive Decisions and is active with community service programs.

Tara Metzger is also a graduate of Lisbon High School. She will attend Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., and will major in environmental science. Metzger hopes one day to study abroad, focusing on the international aspects of environmental science. She participated in varsity track and SADD during all four years.

Tabitha Waite is a graduate of Brunswick High School. She will attend Simmons College in Boston and is currently undecided on a program of study. Waite is considering a degree in psychology or international relations. She is currently a volunteer at the Coastal Maine Humane Society and has summer employment experience at a credit union in New Jersey.
