LIVERMORE FALLS — State fire investigators charged two area teenagers Thursday with trespassing at a vacant house that caught fire Tuesday night, Sgt. Joel Davis of the Office of the State Fire Marshal said Friday.
Davis said investigators determined the two were in the house on Bridge Street and knocked over a drop light that ignited the blaze. Each was charged with criminal trespass and released to their parents with conditions, he said.
The cause of the fire is arson, he said, and a report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office to determine if further charges will be brought against the juveniles, Davis said.
The ages and home addresses of the two were not available from investigators Friday.
About 50 firefighters from several departments responded to the fire reported at 8:33 p.m. Tuesday at the two-story house. Livermore Falls police officer Steve Wilkinson said he was first on the scene and flames were showing just inside the front door. Firefighters quickly had the blaze under control.
The house, owned by Charles and Rose Darling of Livermore, had minor damage, Livermore Falls Fire Safety Officer Jim Purington said at the time.
