LEWISTON — Georgette G. Richard, 61, of Lewiston, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 14, 1950, the daughter of the late Lucien and Alma (Blais) Guerin. She attended local schools, graduating from St. Dominic High School in 1968.

On Aug. 16, 1969, she married the love of her life, Leo Richard, who passed away on Jan. 17.

Georgette and Leo worked and raised their young family in Lewiston. When not tending the needs of her family, she worked for Gladu Roofing. She then went to work at The Central Maine Youth Center as the assistant office manager.

In 1989, when the Youth Center was sold and became The Central Maine Civic Center, she assumed the role as office manager and activities director. She worked very closely with the ownership of the Civic Center and was very instrumental in bringing The Lewiston Maineiacs to Lewiston. When the Civic Center became The Colisee, she continued to work until her retirement in 2010.

Georgette enjoyed gardening, but what gave her the greatest joy was following her grandchildren’s activities and spending time at home, barefooted by the pool, with her husband, children and grandchildren.
