BUCKFIELD — Kelly Davis graduated on May 7 from the University of Connecticut at Storrs. She received a Bachelor of Music degree in voice performance. Davis is a mezzo-soprano and studies under the direction of Dr. Constance Rock.

Recent engagements include Davis as Madame Kirsten in the Connecticut premier of Dan Shore’s “The Beautiful Bridegroom” and Ruth in “Pirates of Penzance” with the UConn Opera Studio. This past January, Kelly performed a recital as a guest soloist for the Franco American Heritage Center’s La Rencontre Concert Series in Lewiston.

In both 2010 and 2011, Kelly performed as Prince Orlofsky in “Die Fledermaus,” and as Melissa in “Princess Ida” with The Simsbury Light Opera Company in Connecticut. Kelly has also performed as Ruggiero in “Alcina,” Cavalier Ramiro in “La finta giardiniera” and as Donna Elvira in “Don Giovanni” with UConn Opera Studio. Kelly has also been featured in master classes with Maestro Willie Waters, Dr. Sylvia McCann and soprano Gabriele Lechner.

Internationally, Kelly’s work has taken her to Graz, Austria to attend the American Institute of Musical Studies for six weeks during the summer of 2010. This summer, Kelly will be travelling to France to perform in recitals, concerts and Offenbach’s opera bouffe “La Grande-Duchesse de Gerolstein” with the Franco American Vocal Academy.

In 2009, Kelly made her Lincoln Center debut with the UConn Opera Theater’s production of “The Riders to the Sea.” Additionally, she was a 2009 winner of the Anne Gannet Scholarship Competition, sponsored by the Maine Federation of Music Clubs. This fall, Kelly will be pursuing graduate studies with a Performer’s Certificate in voice. She is the daughter of Scott and Holly Davis of Buckfield.
