AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine’s biggest medical marijuana non-profit says it has arranged $1.6 million in financing in hopes of opening its first dispensary.
Daniel Walker, a Portland attorney representing Northeast Patients Group, says the group will deliver its financial plan Monday and open the dispensary in Thomaston next month.
On Aug. 4, Walker filed documents naming the Farmacy Institute for Wellness and retired NBA basketball player Cuttino Mobley as partners in the Wellness and Pain Management Connection LLC.
The Wellness and Pain Management Connection will lend the medical marijuana group $1.6 million over eight years at 8.5 percent annual interest.
John Martins, a spokesman for the state Department of Health and Human Services, tells the Portland Press Herald that the department’s licensing staff will receive signed copies of the agreement this week.
