I would like to comment about the mess currently going on in Washington, D.C.

I agree with all of those who have said that the federal government is dysfunctional. But no one has had much to say about the way it got there: the voters who created the current Congress.

The tea party candidates were extremely clear about what they would do if elected. They were elected and they have done what they said.

We see the result, and I wonder if we like it.

Whatever one’s political outlook is, it seems to me that we should all want and support a functioning government. How can that happen if we elect people who plainly state that they want to destroy it?

And make no mistake, that’s exactly what they want.

It would go a long way if voters put aside their anger and actually voted for reasonable and qualified people who could clean up the mess with clear thought and compromise.
