CARTHAGE – A Florida man faces charges after police say he apparently fired shots over the heads of people partying on River Road about midnight Saturday, Franklin County Sheriff’s Lt. Niles Yeaton said.
When party-goers started hearing shots go overhead, seeing muzzle blasts and branches falling they called police.
Cpl. Kenneth Charles, Sgt. Steve Lowell and Deputy Matthew Brann responded, and determined the gunshots were coming from a nearby camp, Yeaton said.
They went to the place and discovered a man who was intoxicated holding a .22-caliber pistol and a .44-caliber Magnum rifle, he said.
Cpl. Kenneth Charles arrested Schuyler W. Stratton, 62, of Leesburg, Fla., on a charge of felony aggravated reckless conduct.
He was taken to the Franklin County jail in Farmington. He was released Sunday after posting $250 cash bail.
Stratton is scheduled to appear Oct. 28 in a Farmington court.
The guns were seized, Yeaton said.
