PARIS —  On Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26-27, Celebration Barn Theater will present Amanda Huotari in “The Soiree,” a theatrical party hosted by one woman.

The show revolves around witty and grandiose Elizabeth, whose charms slowly come unhinged in an interactive performance of physical comedy, stand-up and other improvisational surprises.

“The Soiree,” written by Huotari, is directed by Avner Eisenberg (Broadway’s Avner the Eccentric). The show debuted in 2007 with support from the Maine Arts Commission and has been presented at the New York Clown Theatre  and Orlando Fringe festivals and Teatro R101 in Bogota, Colombia.

Huotari is an actress, teaching artist and executive director of Celebration Barn Theater. With a bachelor’s degree in acting from Emerson College, she also studied physical theater at the Lecoq School in Paris, France, and is a graduate of the International School of Comic Acting is Reggio Emilia, Italy.

She has worked extensively at the Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield and with theater companies throughout the state. She is now in her ninth season of  performing Add Verb Productions’ one-woman show, “The Thin Line.” Her original work has been featured at the New York Downtown Clown Revue, Phyzgig Festival and Seattle’s Moisture Festival.
