LOVELL — The 36th annual Lovell Arts & Artisans Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at New Suncook School on Main Street.

Featured in the juried exhibit will be artists working in fiber arts, fine jewelry, photography, stoneware, ceramics, paintings, woodworking and other media.

Among those exhibiting is Lucy Rogers of Lovell, whose inspiration comes from nature and whose passion is spinning and hand-dying yarns, using natural and organic materials as a source of color. Recently at her Hilltop Handspun studio, for example, she had several batches of dye steeping in water, one from coreopsis flowers and the other from marigolds.

Rogers also utilizes wool from sheep, angora rabbits and alpacas, sometimes just a single type but often blended. She recently exhibited at the Fiber Arts Tour Weekend put on by Maine Fiberarts and will exhibit at the Common Ground Fair in September.

Also exhibiting will be Holly Best of Denmark, who designed the anniversary poster for the fair. She also has an eye for color, as seen in her jewelry designs created out of beads, polymer clay and wire.

During the fair there will be a book sale and a raffle for donated artwork. Raffle tickets are available for purchase at the Charlotte Hobbs Library as well as at the fair. Lunch, including a variety of homemade sandwiches and desserts, will be sold.
